Ibm Thinkcentre Bios
Trying to change boot order/sequence in IBM's ThinkCentre. (MT-M81830-WBS S/N KCAP2CM). There is no 'BOOT' in the set up utility. I wiped XP and installed Ubuntu LTS abt 1.5 yrs ago (can't recall if it was via an USB) but now I want to install Lubuntu LTS with a LiveCD because Ubuntu uses too much sources and makes the computer slow. Back to the set up utility, it has the Main/Devices/Start Up/Advanced/Security/Power/Exit but no BOOT menu.
I've tried putting CD/DVD-Rom and Removable 1st under Start Up/Start Up Sequence under Primary and also under Automatic Start Up Sequence. Even when I hit F12 to make CD/DVD-Rom boot first, it goes straight to the installed Ubuntu. Found a similar issue here that I tried with no luck: I've been trying for last 3 days and keep hitting brick wall. Any help appreciated. First check if the CD/DVD you made really is bootable on another PC.
It's a quite common error to make a non-bootable CD/DVD to boot and that doesn't work. Then make a better disk. Then check if you can boot from another bootable disk, like the recovery disks that came with the ThinkCentre or that you made. If that doesn't work either, replace the drive or see if you can boot from an external drive.
Finally, you can see if you van make a Lubuntu stick from the iso to boot from that., That should work as well is 1.5 years ago. Thank you Kees for your response and help. Apologies for taking so long to respond, family emergency. All is well now. The boss baby full movie. Don't have another PC for your 1st suggestion. ThinkCentre didn't come with any disks, it's a used PC.
Don't want to replace drive (I'd like to know if broken 1st) or want to buy an external drive. Created a LiveCD because I wanted to re-use the USB.
After so much researching, thinking it might be due to CD not mounted and nothing to do with boot order (banging head on table). Anyways, back to researching on how to mount/check to see if mounted. Again, thanks for your help. I don't know that model but have had some experience with M series entering BIOS when fast boot option was enabled.
It was a pain and I've forgotten the exact steps. Here's something to look at first.

If that doesn't work, you could try disconnecting the hard drive. Of course, remove anything that the PC might try to boot from such as a CD or USB device. You should get a message that no boot device was detected and given a key to press to enter the BIOS. From there, you should be able to change whatever you wish to change.
